Jose' Andres steps down as CEO of ThinkFoodGroup to focus on World Central Kitchen
ThinkFoodGroup was started more than 30 years ago after Jose moved to DC. I met Jose’ right after he arrived in Washington and started working as the head chef of Cafe Atlantico at its original location on Columbia Rd. Those were fun times, indeed. Close to the Former Spanish ambassador's residence, in the Adams Morgan, it was very common for embassy parties to spill over to Cafe Atlantico, and spontaneous tango dancing would erupt on the main floor. Roberto Alvarez, owner of Cafe Atlantico, had a brilliant idea for hiring this new chef, Jose Andres. A decision that changed the culinary landscape not only in Washington DC but globally with the creation of Jose’ food charity, World Central Kitchen.
